School Workshops

Wormshead Brass is committed to the promotion of brass playing in our schools and among young people in general. Schools projects form an important part of Wormshead Brass diary providing interesting and informative demonstration and education sessions in schools, colleges or youth institutions.

The most popular format for a steel band workshop would be for either two or three musicians to come in for a whole day.  This would normally consist of a performance during a morning assembly and one at the end of the day, with individual talks to each class through out the day (although the format is very flexible). 

Classes of up to 30 children can be catered for with ideally 6-8 session in a day (although this can be more if required). Each session will be geared towards the age of the class participating and will involve copying and learning various rhythms.  Children can be warmed up through various clapping exercises before moving onto the drums.
